Soil respiration is the second largest carbon flux component in the terrestrial ecosystem carbon cycle, which is only inferior to the total primary productivity of vegetation. It plays an important role in the terrestrial ecosystem carbon cycle and carbon budget. Therefore, quantitative estimation of soil respiration is of great significance for accurate assessment of global carbon budget. Global 1km annual soil respiration products, including global soil respiration (Rs) from 2000 to 2020, with a time resolution of 1 year and data in NetCDF format. The product can provide data support for global change and carbon cycle research.

The soil respiration model was built using the global ground observation data set of soil respiration (Bond Lamberty and Thomson, 2010; Chen et al., 2014; Epule, 2015). The data in this dataset are screened based on the following criteria: ① The observation time is after 2000; ② The measurement method is infrared gas analysis; ③ The observation time, longitude, latitude, vegetation type and biota area of each record are unique; ④ Except for farmland, ground observation sample points without interference shall be selected for other vegetation types; ⑤ On an annual scale, the observation frequency is>0.5 (1=annual observation). The number of sampling points finally selected by referring to these standards is 701, and the number of available data records is 1292. The input data of soil respiration model are mainly MODIS land products( https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/ ), including MODIS LST, ET, GPP, NDVI and EVI. See the data file for details.
