WDC-RRE database classification introduction

WDC-RRE database classification introduction

1. Basic geographic database

Basic geographic database mainly records basic geographic information, consisting of both physical geography information such as administrative division, landscape, drainage system vegetation, and social geography information such as settlements, traffic, boundary, special features, toponym. Moreover, ancillary information like geographic coordinate grid for geographic information positioning is also considered.

2. Nature resources database

Nature resources database mainly records natural resources that maintain or increase reserves at the rate of growth through natural forces on the Earth’s surface, namely renewable resources. These resources include soil, water, mineral, energy, tourism, forest, grassland, climate and so on. Resource sustainable development researches can be conducted.

3. Population and social economy database

Population and social economy database mainly records the economic statistics of the country, covering rural and urban scales. These statistics mainly contain county population of time series, financial budget, per capita revenue(PCR),electricity for rural use and so on, which can be used for researches about the development of national economy and regional sustainable development.

4. Disaster risk reduction database

Disaster risk reduction database mainly records spatiotemporal information of various disasters on the Earth’s surface. The main data including earthquakes, floods, freezing rain and snow, and other typical regions of hazard-inducing environments, can be used in researches like disaster risk analysis and spatial-temporal change.

5.Land use and land cover database

Land use and land cover database mainly records natural features and artificial surface on the Earth’s surface, mostly formed by land vegetation, soil, river, marshland and various buildings(like road)。This is the one of the basic data for researches such as regional planning, climate change, environment modeling, and also the major part of global change study.

6.Loess Plateau agriculture and environment database

Loess Plateau agriculture and environment database focuses on Loess Plateau, aiming at Northwest arid and semi-arid agricultural and resource environments。Agricultural and environmental data such as agroclimate (precipitation, temperature difference), land use, land cover (forest, grassland, etc.), soil and soil erosion in Loess Plateau are recorded.

7.Temperature spacial database

Temperature database mainly records China’s temperature data from 1957 to 1990, including 455 data folders, specifically monthly average temperature, average minimum temperature and average maximum temperature. Data format is ARCGIS GRID. Researches like regional climate change and land cover change can be conducted.

8.Regional and thematic database

Regional and thematic database mainly records resources and environmental data in some typical regions, covering some typical areas and topics, such as climate change, environment change and some fields related to earth system. This can be used for researches about the changes of regional resource environment and sustainable development.
