The coding design of Chinese medicinal materials is based on the 1:4000000 distribution map of Chinese medicinal materials, and the medicinal materials are coded directly according to the medicinal resource classification system. Four-digit code is used for coding, and the first digit from the left is the category code representing plant medicines, animal medicines, and mineral medicines. The first is 1 for plant medicines, and the first is 2 for animal medicines. The first one is 3 for mineral medicine; the second, third and fourth digits are sequential codes for subcategories of medicinal resources. The classification and coding of botanical herbs are shown in Table 1, the classification and coding of animal medicines are shown in Table 2, and the classification and coding of mineral medicines are shown in Table 3.
